A New Entry

Well it has been quite some time since I posted an entry on my blog, Sorry to those few who may read. Life has been crazy in the Frank House with many new tricks by both kiddies. Sydney has of late cut her own hair and still has a fascination with superheroes. Most notably Darth Vader thanks to her Star Wars crazy mom. Carson or "Cars" as he is affectionately known has begun talking, not all words are recognizable by all, but at least by us. He says juice, up, down, please, thank you, yes, ne-ne(for Sydney) and bye bye are some I can think of.
Jason has been busy with work going to lots of cool places such as Scottsdale, and soon Dallas. I traveled to NYC in October with Hillary and Lindsay which was too much fun! Next year we must do a early happy hour to ensure we arrive in the hotel at a reasonable hour. Thanksgiving was good, got to eat my pumpkin pie the day after, but at least I had it. We have been going going going, and I am sure that will continue into the New Year. Hopefully my poker skills will continue to improve because the Steelers are certainly on a downslide. At least the Redskins are still in the playoff hunt.
Ta Ta for now, I promise I will begin to blog more.

Your Favorite Quote?

I used to keep a great book with favorite quotes I would find. Why I stopped this soulful searching I am not quite sure. However, to keep in awe of the many guiding lights and souls that can inspire, I have resolved myself to starting a new one. So with that, I invite you all to post a favorite quote or saying so I can begin anew...

A few favorites I have recently found ~

"It's kind of fun to do the impossible"
Walt Disney

"Well done is better than well said"
Benjamin Franklin

"We find delight in the beauty and happiness of
children that makes the heart too big for the body"
Ralph Waldo Emmerson

Happy Valentines Day

Wishing everyone a Very Happy Valentines Day! Things have been crazy around here, the kids keep us running all the time. I of course was estatic about the Steelers winning the Super Bowl, what a feat, the 6th seed.... Hopefully next year will be a stellar year for both the Steelers and the Redskins. We have been playing a lot of poker lately, but not winning any money. I guess the more you play, the better you get. Looking forward to April, as we have our flights and hotel booked as well as our tickets for the Jazz Festival in New Orleans. We almost decided not to go, once the gravity of the damage Katrina caused. But after the first of the year, many folks were talking about how the French Quarter survived mostly intact, and I think they residents of that area need toursim dollars more than most so off we will go. We have been to one Jazz Fest 2 years ago, and I must say I was blown away. So much good music. I have been searching many of the artists that are local and usually play and have found some good sounds, I am looking forward to expanding my musical horizons. The Grammys this year actually gave a very good plug for the music of New Orleans and asking for the support of the public to come and spend their money to give this great city in our Country the rebirth it desperately seeks. I am happy to say that I will be a part of that effort.

As for the kids, Sydney is talking a mile a minute, I swear that girl has an energizer battery pack hidden somewhere on her tiny self. Still obsessed with shoes, pretty dresses, and such. She is such a joy and so smart! She continues to amaze me daily. Carson is sitting on his own for a good time now, and is scooting backwards if you put him on his tummy. He now weighs a whopping 21 pounds. Maybe he will play pro football one day - as long as he plays for the right team! Sydney, not a doubt in my mind that actress is a possibility. Children truly are the visions for your dreams, the key is to let them follow the dreams they have versus yours. I just hope we give them the tools to make the right choices as they grow.

Strews of Shoes

Jason made a very interesting observation this morning that I must share! Sydney (who is affectionally known to us as D.Q.) in her younger years, wouldn't keep a shoe on her foot to save a life. Now, everything is about shoes. "Sassy shoes", which she calls her dress up shoes, Dora shoes, brown boots, heart shoes, bow shoes, pink converse low tops, boots, and Dora slippers. Any kind of shoe she loves. I think we are secretly terrified that we are raising a futre Imelda Marcos. I am sure that watching her mother's obsession with shoes isn't helping. Let's just hope she looks for the good sales like me. Long live the strews of shoes....

Today in History

1935 - Krueger Brewing Company placed the first canned beer on sale -- in Richmond, VA. I’ll have a cold Krueger Light, please.
1941 - Happy Birthday to Neil Diamond, who started writing and singing songs while he was a young pre-med student.
1964 - CBS acquired the rights to televise the National Football League's 1964-1965 regular season. The move cost CBS $14.1 million a year. The NFL stayed on CBS for 30 years.
1985 - Penny Harrington became the first woman police chief of a major city. She assumed the duties as head of the Portland, Oregon force of 940 officers and staff.
1993 - Thurgood Marshall, first African American member of the United States Supreme Court, dies in Bethesda, Maryland at the age of 84.

Last Bus Stop - Detroit

With Pittsburgh's win over Denver, The Steelers are heading to the Super Bowl. Awesome for Jerome Bettis, whose hometown is Detroit. This is most likely his last season as he has been plagued with many injuries during his career. I am hopeful that he will be able to go out a winner. Jason and I watched the game yesterday with Brian and Juanita Lincoln, Ed and Jen Maroney, Marc and Jane Merryman and Mark McCaughan and Robert Brumback at Mikes Place. It was a great time. Jason was of course faithful and true to the Skins, wearing his team gear. Can't wait for the game in two weeks.

Shabbat Shalom

We spent Friday night with Will and Ginny Phillips and their daughter Jordan. Such cuties were the girls! They were prancing around in their pretty dresses, sassy shoes and necklaces all night. It was tiring just watching them! We had a wonderful meal, courtesy of our in house chef, and resident fisherman Jason. Fresh rockfish, yum yum. Saturday we took the kids to Tot Shabbat at Temple. Sydney says her favorite part of Shabbat are the Dinasours, but that was before all the kids went on the Bima and got candy from the Rabbi. Saturday evening we shared a meal with Ryken and Geoffery and their son Joshua. Josh is in Sydney's class at school. Again, it is tiring watching those kids play, I wish I had their energy. It was great to spend some time with both families and look forward to seeing them again soon.

And the Wieners are....

And from this day forward they shall be known as "Lil Smokey" and "D.Q."

Go Steelers

The weekend is here. Hooray! I must say I am excited, but mostly for Sunday. Pittsburgh is in the AFC Championship game against Denver. 3:00 p.m. on CBS for those of you who want to help root for the Black and Gold. We have been in 5 championship games, and during some just couldn't seem to make it happen. This year, with a confident and more experienced quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger, I think we have a viable shot to beat Denver.
Let me ask -Super Bowl, why on earth did they pick Detroit? I can think of many other areans that would be more inviting. But I guess since I have never been there, I can't knock it. That being said, if someone were to say, "Hey I have two tickets to the Super Bowl in Detroit", I would be booking a flight.
On the NFC front, Carolina definitely has a viable chance against Seattle. Yes it is true Seattle has not won a championship game, much less gone to the Super Bowl. But Carolina is a better seasoned team and I think they have the skills to pull it off, even on the road. Jason is definitely rooting for an East Coast Super Bowl. Sadly, the Redskins were denied their chance this year. They had a great season, one which I think will poise them to come out of the gates running next season.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
